PHILADELPHIA, N.Y.   —  Nancy Lee Lapp, 18, Ore Bed Road, died Sunday morning, Dec. 11, from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident.

A Celebration of the Life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Naumburg Mennonite Church with the following pastors, Titus Mast, David Haldeman and Howard Maxson officiating. Visitation will be held 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at the church. Burial will be private. 

A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced at the Indian River High School auditorium. 

In honor of Nancy Lee’s life, her family is requesting all mourners to wear her favorite colors, purple, teal / green or silver if at all possible.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan.

Born Jan. 13, 1993, in Gouverneur, a daughter of Thomas L. and Kristin A. Noftsier Lapp, she was the salutatorian of the Indian River Central School class of 2011. She was currently studying at the Word of Life Bible Institute, Schroon Lake, N.Y.

Nancy Lee served as recreation leader and as a counselor at Beaver Camp, a Christian Camp in Lowville, for the 2011 camping season. The two summers prior she was a Teen Leader in Training at Beaver Camp. She was most recently employed at the North Country Store in Philadelphia.

She received the prestigious AWANA Citation Award for completing all required Bible studies, projects and memorizing verses. Her favorite pastimes were loving God, loving people, music / singing, photography and teaching. She enjoyed children’s ministry and was involved with Vacation Bible School at the Theresa Presbyterian Church since she was in the sixth grade.

Nancy loved Jesus with everything she had. Her greatest desire was to spread Jesus’ love, and that all of her friends and family would come to personally know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Surviving are her parents, Tom and Kristin, Philadelphia; her boyfriend, Jeriah Putnam, Gouverneur; five sisters, Amy, KristiAnn, Emily, Lorilee and Sadie Mae, all at home; paternal grandparents, Jacob and Annie Lapp, Newmanstown, PA; maternal grandparents Andy and Phyllis Noftsier, Castorland; her great grandparents, Phyllis A. Noftsier, Lowville, and Bernard and Mary Bergman, Ariz.; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A brother, Thomas Lee Lapp II, died May 21, 2009.
